Overview

"Anyone in a ministerial leadership or pastoral management role in an apostolic work or religious institute has to exercise responsibility for governance and administration. Pastors of parishes, assistant priests, senior chaplains, local superiors, community bursars, provincial superiors and councillors, finance committee members, safeguarding and workplace health-and-safety officers, priests serving in diocesan offices, and various other roles are responsible for good civil and ecclesial governance.

This responsibility includes accountability for record keeping and financial management, observing statutory requirements, lawful oversight of staff and volunteers, meeting safeguarding standards and ensuring that canonical obligations are fulfilled.
